Salary: $126,803
Reports To: Chief Probation Officer
Essential Duties:
- Initiates, develops and controls the operating functions of several sub-units within the office, and directs operational and grant budget preparation.
- Organizes, supervises, and directs all functions of the Finance Office such as purchasing, assists with inventory control, cashier unit; monitors work schedules, and accounting procedures.
- Directs preparation of department’s corporate, probation services fees, and grant budgets. Recommends appropriation allotments, supervises budget projections and determines transfer of funds when required.
- Assist with the preparation of budgetary goals and quarterly reporting of same.
- Supervises the training, orientation and evaluation of all personnel working within the Finance Office.
- Organizes and directs the operating activities of property control, contract monitoring, travel arrangements, and telecommunication needs for the department.
- Directs the maintenance of the key control system, and repair and maintenance issues.
- Supervises the preparation and updates of financial policies, attends policy and procedure meeting when required.
- Meets with personnel from the Clerk’s Office and State’s Attorney Office to resolve financial issues.
- Consults with executives’ staff concerning space utilization, equipment and maintenance requirements. Assist in resolving problems relating to the Finance Office and finance procedures.
- Supervises the preparation of comprehensive financial reports required by the County Auditor and independent auditors. Meets with auditors during on-site visits.
- Serves on various committees within the department.
- Meets with the Chief Probation Officer to discuss financial issues and department needs.
- Attends County Board meetings and coordinates financial information with staff in the Office of the Chief Judge.
- Coordinates the preparation of various comprehensive financial reports monthly.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned, which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above.
Qualification Requirements:
- Within six months of employment, be a resident of the State of Illinois.
- Possess a minimum of a Master’s Degree from an accredited four-year college/university.
- Possess strong research and data analysis skills.
- Possess a clear and thorough understanding of department policy, procedures and programs.
- Possess the ability to type in accordance with assigned work.
- Ability to maintain a necessary level of completeness.
- Exhibit attentiveness to detail.
- Possess the ability to utilize proper grammar, sentence structure and spelling.
- Demonstrate sensitivity to issues of confidentiality and professionalism.
- Possess excellent filing, organizational and oral and written communication skills.
- Maintains stability under pressure or opposition.
- Ability to perform a variety of tasks, often changing assignments on short notice.
- Possess knowledge and/or experience in quality assurance, program evaluation and research methods.
- Possess the ability to complete all duties as assigned.
